"Marching" up to Bempton Cliffs

Kittiwake

A rather inclement morning with light rain deterred me from an early exercise walk up to the cliffs. The weather improved at lunchtime with brightness and sunny spells. It was mild but a challenging south westerly did its best to cool things down.

My afternoon exercise walk was twofold. (1) A locale exercise walk and (2) A chat with the RSPB regarding my volunteering at Bempton. It has been twelve months since I did my last volunteering shift at Bempton, we all know why, courtesy of a rather nasty virus and numerous lockdowns. It is fair to say that I have agonised for some time as to whether I would return and with so many plusses and minuses, today was going to be decision day. A frank but friendly discussion led to my decision. If I didn't, I wouldn't so I will return to volunteering on a Sunday once lockdown is lifted.

Only a quick visit to Grandstand, Mosey Downgate and Bartlett Nab but pleasing to see my first Kittiwakes on the ledges! Lovely to hear their calls again.
