Draycote Water - Whinchat

Having just got home from taking Symphony to the groomers, I was pleased to receive a text from John Judge, alerting me to a Whinchat on Farborough Bank, at Draycote Water. It is such a pity that the original finder does not inform. Within minutes, I was on my way for another year tick and hoping this bird would stay. As I arrived on Farborough Bank, I met Steve Batt who eventually managed to get me onto the Whinchat, below the bank, in the field housing the sailing club trailers. Although distant, even for my 500mm and 1.4 converter, I was pleased to be able to touch base with this uncommon visitor.

Titchwell Marsh - 27th April 2014

Avocet

An excellent day out at Titchwell with the Coventry & Warwickshire RSPB Group. I am very impressed with excellent organisation of these trips and the friendliness of the members. I just wish that I could have taken a more active part years ago, but hey ho! The weather was bright and sunny, but a fresh breeze challenged! Nothing "special" about, but who can complain with about 80 species, of which my year list increased by 25!
