Not my first Puffin of the year, but my first on the cliffs!

A glorious morning on what (as far as I'm concerned) is the last day of winter! Spring starts tomorrow!!

Even better, I found my first Puffin of the year on the cliffs! However, like one Swallow doesn't make a summer, one Puffin doesn't make a breeding season! Some record shots

Spooky! Managed to capture a "ghost" this morning, the "ghost" of a departed Fulmar, now haunting Bartlett Nab!

Where does time go? Here we are on the last day of February and the last day of winter! Tomorrow sees the start of Spring (well in my eyes it does)! Early morning frost, blue sky, fantastic Moon, a fantastic sunrise and a sunny day in prospect. What could be better?

Local Exercise Walk to Bempton Cliffs (Some of the Birds)

 

Razorbill

A beautiful late winter morning, early frost, blue sky, sunshine, light breeze and mild temperature. A good selection of birds on and around the cliffs - two Barn Owls hunting the cliff top fields; Guillemots and Razorbills have returned to the ledges with many more in rafts on the sea; Gannets numbers are still increasing; Fulmars are a delight; many passerines in song; and Lapwings on Cliff Lane. Best birds for me were two Puffins on the sea (probably many more if I had taken the time to scan, but I was on my exercise walk!
