Northumberland. Lindisfarne - 9th September 2021

Last day today and a visit to Lindisfarne. Bird wise it was very quiet, but best of the day was a small group of Roseate Terns just off St Cuthberts Island, a ten year tick! We could only be on the island from 0900 till 1430hrs and it was rammed! Humans seemed to in greater numbers than I was comfortable with, again aimlessly wandering and due to low tide, causing massive disturbance to birds and other wildlife, by  allowing dogs to run free and crossing over areas to get a "selfie", particularly to St Cuthberts Island. Bird watching is disturbed by everything! Unfortunately, the island was also affected by a sea fret!

Heather is undergoing training to be ordained into the Church of England and chose to undertake a pilgrimage by walking over the road causeway. She would've liked to follow the traditional route across the sands, but felt doing it alone was a tad risky.
