Bridlington Harbour, Some of the Birds - 22nd September 2021

Guillemot

Strange events are taking place along the east coast involving some of our seabirds. Birds including Gannets, Guillemots and Razorbills are returning to the inshore waters, some looking healthy, some emaciated and sadly, some washed up dead. We are talking many birds. It is not yet known why this is happening but is being investigated by scientists and will probably be linked to lack of food or possibly chemicals. Interestingly, Kittiwakes are also in the town and harbour, calling loudly, very unusual for this time of year.

Turnstone

Dunlin with Turnstone

Being high tide, Turnstone and a few Purple Sandpipers clung to the sea walls. I didn't see any Redshank.
