Bempton Cliffs Walk Glorious Gannets) - 3rd September 2021

Another very dull and cloudy day for my walk to Bempton Cliffs. It was my intention to check out the vegetation for migrants, but as normal for me, I found none! Oh well, thank goodness for the Gannets!

Gannets are by nature, vicious birds and seem to enjoy a good squabble, especially over territory

Ouch! That eye!

However, they do obtain small gifts for their partners throughout the breeding season which are graciously received and then placed in the nest

Gannets mature at five years of age and usually partner for breeding between between five and seven years of age. Once they have a partner, they stay together for life. Here we see year four birds showing an interest in each other with a gift of love. Lets hope the bond remains strong!

Gannets in flight

Air traffic control nightmare!

I have tried to take some images of Gannets over rough sea. These birds are c400ft below the cliffs

And a couple on the cliffs

All images taken handheld with Sony RX10 Mk4.
