Easter Break, Danby Beacon - 15th April 2022

Wheatear

Easter! I really could not face Bempton over the Easter weekend. It would be rammed with people, many clamouring for views of Puffins, and viewpoints uncomfortably crowded. With Heather away on a course in Durham and my daughter Abigail living close by, it was a relief to spend the long weekend in the Durham area. Heather joined us on Easter Sunday. Driving up on Good Friday, I decided to visit Danby Beacon, not previously visited only passed by on the A731. What a delight! A nice walk over heather moorland and two year ticks in the form of Red Grouse and Golden Plover. Also, Meadow Pipits, Curlews, Stonechats and Skylarks.

Nope! He definitely can't see me!

No, he hasn't seen me!

Oh bu**er! He has seen me!
