Local Exercise Walk to Bempton Cliffs (Some of the Birds)

Ring Ouzel

A cold, frosty, sunny, misty morning for my local exercise walk to Bempton Cliffs! Still it is only the end of February but definitely a feeling of Spring in the air.

Best bird of the morning has to be the Ring Ouzel, very elusive and flighty, but obliged for a distant record shot!

Also observed, two Barn Owls hunting the cliff top fields; my first Kittiwakes of the year in small rafts on the sea (c20); a few Guillemots in small rafts on the sea; but it is the Gannets that are dominating numbers on the ledges, in flight and on the sea.

Aspects of Gannet Life

Tidying the nest

Bringing a gift for my beloved! A gift that will be graciously received and will be added to the nest

Greetings (can often be rather intense and violent)

Sky pointing indicating the intention to move or fly

The "Geronimo" Leap (usually accompanied by a cry)

Fulmar

Images taken handheld with Canon 7D mk2 and 400mm 5.6 prime lens.

Please stay safe on your LOCAL exercise walk in nature.
