Walk to Bempton Cliffs - 27th December 2020

I hope that everyone managed to enjoy Christmas 2020? For the first time in a number of years, I didn't get on to the cliffs at Christmas but had a special time elsewhere (see previous blog post). A cold morning, with no significant sunrise but a few decent birds including: Ring Ousel (1); Short-eared Owl (3); Fulmars 100+; Red Throated Diver (1); numerous Redwings; a couple of Fieldfares and Song Thrushes.

Today, I decided to use the Sony RX10 in JPEG in order to utilise the clear image zoom. I was rather disappointed with the results and then realised that I set the ISO at 400 but thought I was on auto ISO! Moral = while still getting to grips with a new camera, re-check the settings!

Best bird of the day was a Ring Ousel on the cliff path before flying up the path towards the visitor centre. The first I have seen in winter! Managed to get some record shots!

Always a harbinger of joy, the Robin

Every day is a school day, especially with the Sony RX10 mk4!

Stay safe out there and enjoy the winter wildlife.
