A Cold and Frosty Walk to Bempton Cliffs - 7th December 2020

Bempton Cliffs

A real delight to be out in the fresh air on a cold and frosty morning! Out in the dark, wet roads were rather challenging and on more than one occasion, I felt like I was auditioning for Bambi on ice!

The Moon kept an eye on me

Walking up Cliff Lane, the first hint of sunrise

Once on the cliffs, the cloud base was quite thick and a sea fret obscured Filey and Carr Naze. I wondered if the sun would actually break through...

The cliffs resonated once again with the guttural growling of  several thousand Guillemots with a good number of Fulmars on cliffs and in flight. Best experience was seeing a bit of a scrap between a Barn Owl and a Short-eared Owl! Unfortunately it was still quite dark and they were distant so no images.

Guillemots

Walking back down Cliff Lane, the light was much improved and the frost was still present so I had a go at natures decorations!

Symphony (Ginger Beast) visiting a rather frosty Bartlett nab!

Please stay safe and enjoy nature
