On and Around Bempton Cliffs - 4th June 2020

Welcome to this world little one!

A cool and dull morning with strong northerly winds (on the cliffs) chilled, requiring woolly hat and gloves and made photography rather challenging! A pity really as the birds were hanging in the air like puppets on a string.

Surprise of the day was seeing my first Gannet chicks with two parents off Bartlett Nab! They tend to be very difficult to see at this stage. Gannets incubate their eggs under their large webbed feet and brood their young on top.

And the happy parents...

Theme of the day was birds in flight, so staying with Gannets...

Adult Gannet 5yrs+

Year 4 Gannet

Year 3 Gannet

"Young love" Year 4 Gannets pairing!

Razorbills...

And finally, some non-flight images...

A pair of Bridled Guillemots...
