Bempton Cliffs - 14th June 2020

"There's always that one idiot with a camera!"

After a glorious end to yesterday, today began, well cool and dominated by a heavy sea fret! It could easily be summed up by Thomas Hood:

No sun - no moon!
No morn - no noon - No dawn - no dusk - no proper time of day.
No warmth, no cheerfulness, no healthful ease,
No comfortable feel in any member -
No shade, no shine, no butterflies, no bees,
No fruits, no flowers, no leaves, no birds! -
November!

BUT WAIT! It's mid June!! Flaming June!!!
With a busy day ahead, we set off to the cliffs at 0600hrs. Not a hope of any decent images, but maybe a few atmospheric ones? Amazingly, there were already cars in the car park with some visitors wondering about their sanity! I certainly questioned mine on numerous occasions!

If you enjoy sea frets, then today was the day for you. If you didn't come out (sensible) this is what you "mist"!

As for birds.....well, they were there (honest)!

Gannets...

Carrion Crow...

Incoming!...

Auks...

I may be a small bird, but look at my wingspan!...

During the afternoon, the sea fret eased a little in the village enabling me to capture these Dunnocks engaging in "cloacal pecking", unfortunately, the "cloacal kissing" did not follow!

And finally, a random juvenile Starling...
