Bempton Cliffs - 11th June 2020

Puffin

A very dull and cloudy morning with a bitterly cold, strong, north easterly wind - is it really June?! It was a good job I had a woolly hat and gloves in my pocket! Despite this, the birds were showing well and I had the viewpoints to myself!

The wind gave me the opportunity to capture birds in flight, a separate blog post can be seen HERE

It was good to see the Gannet chicks (Guga) developing with some now in their white, downy plumage...

I tried to see some Kittiwake chicks but only managed to see eggs. A few Kittiwakes are still engaging in a little bit of cloacal kissing...

Puffins showed well...

Gannets engaged in territorial disputes...

Gannets of mixed ages "chilling out" on Bartlett Nab...

I'm sure the Guillemot on the right is a female! "I told you to bring back fish, so where is it?"

"What do you mean you forgot?"

"Get back out there and bring back fish"

"OK, dear, sorry, I'm going"

"Sorry dear, will this one do?" "I suppose it will have to, could've been a bit bigger, though"

"I don't understand females, they get me into a right twist!"

And finally, some Bempton "light" images...
