Exercise Walks in May 2020

Sparrowhawk with prey

Another very changeable morning, bitterly cold northerly wind, cloudy, dull and a few sunny intervals. Feel like temperatures were around 0 - 2C! It was a morning for digging out the thermals, woolly hat, gloves and big coat! On the cliffs, it was again difficult to stand balanced and few image opportunities presented. Well it is only May!!

The power of the sea and moods of Bempton, from this walk, can be seen HERE

Best bird of the day came at the end of my walk, a Sparrowhawk with prey, flew over my head and landed in a neighbours garden!

I have long wanted to gain an image of Hares boxing and today that opportunity arose. Unfortunately the hares were distant and my heavily cropped images are disappointing, hopefully, better luck next time!

Most birds were hunkered down, and who can blame them?, but I managed to get a few.

Reflecting on my visit to the cliffs this morning, I have been inspired to take up poetry!

The Wind:

It's windy,
It's very windy,
It's very, very windy,
It's very, very, veraaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaaah,

Farewell, I may be gone sometime!
It's also cold!

Should I give up photography and take up poetry?

Please stay safe and follow current government instructions regarding Covid-19.

All visitor facilities at Bempton Cliffs are currently closed.
