Exercise Walks in May 2020

Puffin

WOW! What a change in the weather, and so quickly. Yesterday was really nice - T-shirts, shorts and sun hats, this morning, cold, damp, dull grey and blowing a Hooley, requiring woolly hat, gloves and big coat! The wind was so strong that standing upright was challenging - I felt a bit like the image on an "elderly persons" warning traffic sign! Almost impossible to hold the camera still enough for any good images! That's UK weather, I suppose!

Todays good deed - rescued this stranded Razorbill off Bartlett Nab! Rather feisty, thanked me by biting my hand (gloves on), but thankfully, didn't poop on me!

Wildlife wise, I think everything was hunkered down! The seabirds were putting on some fantastic aerial displays, but the wind was far to strong to take advantage of it. As a result, and having carried my camera, I felt the need to take some images. The only bird available was this Puffin near Grandstand. I do apologise, I know everyone hates Puffins and what boring birds they are...................................(NOT). However, todays dullness did not do this bird any favours! Puffins have a very simple nest, merely a little vegetation at the end of their nest tunnels. Here one of the pair gathers material...

I don't know what exchange took place in the nest tunnel, but a hasty exit was made!

And back on station
