Bempton Cliffs Walk (The Auks) - 13th July 2023

As summer progresses, the Auks (Puffins, Guillemots & Razorbills) are beginning to thin out on the ledges. Puffins will remain until the end of July, early August, before rafting on the sea and finally returning to mid ocean for the winter. Guillemots and Razorbills have thinned out as their chicks (Jumplings), jump from the ledges and are escorted to the safety of the sea by the male birds. A few Jumplings can still be seen on the ledges, but not for long. Most of the Razorbills and Guillemots still on the ledges will be females and non breeding pairs.
