Hornsea Mere - 16th August 2021

Little Gull

A change of scenery this morning with a visit to Hornsea Mere. Rather dull and cloudy with some light rain, but it made a change from the Black Browed Albatross 😇. Good timing for us, as fifteen minutes after our arrival, it got very busy, with sailing activities, rowing boats et al. and everything disappeared  into the distance.

A year tick with Little Gull, c20 in fact, 2 Marsh Harriers distant at Wassend shore, 5 Little Egrets, 3 Great Crested Grebes, 2 Common Sandpipers on the island, 1 Buzzard, 1 Common Gull, several Common Terns and mesmerising numbers of hirundines - House Martins, Swallows and Sand Martins, plus several Swift. A pleasant change 😇

And finally, the "cute" factor
