Hornsea Mere (1) - 31st August 2021

Leucistic Arctic Tern with Little Gull

For a change, I headed out to Hornsea Mere and stood in the light rain, looking at very little! Several walks around Kirkholm Point and still nothing to point the camera at! The weather brightened and then rained again and still nothing! Perseverance paid off, however, and my short time on the point turned out to be an "out of nowhere" experience! As the rain eased, a small number of Little Gulls appeared "out of nowhere". Again, "out of nowhere" also appeared the leucistic Arctic Tern. Very nice to see, just a pity the sun didn't appear "out of nowhere"!

A two camera day, these are courtesy of my Sony RX10 Mark 4.

Spot the odd one out?

A nice "garden" tick for someone?

I may sometimes mis-identify birds, but on this occasion, even I know the difference 😇
