RSPB Bempton Cliffs - 27th June 2021

Razorbill with "Jumpling"

A morning of sea-fret affecting visibility as it drifted in and out but a much better afternoon with warm sunny periods. Some images are "atmospherically" affected by the sea-fret - well that's my excuse 😇!

Fulmar

Some of the "chicks"

Kittiwake

Gannet

Guillemot

Puffins (back to adult birds)

Guillemot "offering", but no partner or chick

And, the glorious Gannets

And finally, my heart skipped a beat when I spotted this immature Gannet. My first thoughts were that it was a year 1 bird, i.e. fledged this year

When seen closer, I now believe it is a year 2 bird, probably fledging late in 2020?

All images taken handheld with Sony RX10 Mk4.

  1. Great shots Kevin we are coming to Bempton Thursday for 1 night due to wife's job , came last year but end of July and missed Razorbill and only had distant fulmar so your pictures have given me a smile as Bempton is such a fabulous place... . Love your blog as here in Derby it's a distant cry to the coast! Cheers Gary

  2. Thank you very much, Gary your comment is appreciated. I'm sure you will have a fantastic time on the cliffs as all of the breeding seabirds will be present. Enjoy your time here.
