Bempton Birder on Vacation in North West Norfolk

Day 7 - Flitcham Abbey Bird Hide and Hunstanton, 10th June 2021

Mediterranean Gull

Following our visit to RSPB Snettisham, we headed over to the Flitcham Abbey bird hide. This is a lovely place to spend an hour, looking over grassland and ponds. In front of the hide is a fallen tree that refused to die and is the home of a pair of Little Owls.

The evening was spent with a trip to Sunny Hunny (Hunstanton)

And finally, my first photograph of Mediterranean Gull this year!

Overall a lovely week revisiting some of our favourite birding spots. The heat was a tad overbearing, but we adapted a time appropriately! No megas seen, but some good year ticks. My principal of "I'll see what I see when I see it" certainly is more relaxing than chasing birds and missing them!
