Bempton Birder on Vacation in North West Norfolk

Day 4 - Wells next the Sea, 7th June 2021

Drake Shoveler, North Point Pools

Another very warm, muggy day, saw us heading towards Wells next the Sea. En-route, saw us stopping off on the A149, overlooking Holkham Fresh marsh. Only a quick stop as the Holkham estate doesn't like you stopping off, preferring you to pay large amounts of cash into its parking meters at Lady Anne Drive! It was worthwhile, though, picking up year ticks with Common Crane and Great White Egret. Unfortunately, a life tick of Cattle Egret was not on the cards for today!

On to Wells and parked up on the harbour for a wander out towards Stiffkey before the heat had us heading back to the town. A wander around the town and a great fish & chip lunch from "Frenches". Heather wanted to visit Walsingham and en-route we diverted to visit north point pools, just west of Wells. This is new since our last visit to Norfolk in 2013 and gave us a year tick in Little Ringed Plover.
