Bempton Cliffs Walk (Birds) - 5th February 2023

Fulmars

A bright but cool morning on my walk to the cliffs, the wind had increased and chilled to the bone! First bird of the day was a hunting Barn Owl, distant, towards the old RAF base. The cliffs were quite noisy with thousands of Guillemots, my first Razorbill of the year and hundreds of Fulmars. Gannet numbers on the ledges have increased, with some quite close now, and hundreds more in flight. Thousands more Auks formed rafts on the very choppy sea. A "feel good" morning!
