Bempton Cliffs Walk ( Birds) - 14th February 2023

Gannet - 'Ole Blue Eyes

Gosh! An afternoon walk to the cliffs today! This was due to the thick fog which did not start to lift until early afternoon, and we needed a decent walk. Arriving on the cliffs, the sun was doing its best to break through and there were a decent number of birds about. It was also quite busy, being half term. Thousands of Guillemots on the ledges, sea and in flight; Increasing numbers of Razorbills and Gannets; Hundreds of Fulmars and a pass by of a Peregrine.

  1. Great shots. I'm going up this morning and your info. really helps. I now know what's going to be there. Camera packed and ready to go. Hopefully the fog won't be as bad as yesterday. Cheers!

  2. Good luck 🤞 Hopefully the auks will still be present. At this time of year, they often return to the sea. Scan the rafts of auks on the sea and you may get Puffins. It is misty at the moment but hopefully will be better later on.
