One Flew Over the [Gannet] Colony! - 15th May 2022

Black Browed Albatross

It certainly wasn't my plan to take images of the Black Browed Albatross! Indeed, I assumed that Staple Newk viewpoint would be rammed with birders and photographers by the time I arrived and my intention would have been to keep on walking. However, the viewpoint was not over crowded and the Albatross was showing, so it would have been rude not to have a go! As I stood there with my little Sony RX10 camera, either side of me were the big lenses. My mind drifted back to my schooldays and the infamous all in together showers, you know, there is always someone with a bigger one, but very few with smaller ones 😇! I digress! Not the best images, but probably not the worst.

It's amazing when you look at your images, what other birds have been caught up in your efforts!

I'm sure others spend a lot more time with this fantastic bird but my efforts lasted just thirty minutes!

All images taken handheld with Sony RX10 Mk4.
