Corn Bunting
A very warm start to the day (0500hrs) with sunshine and wall to wall blue sky. This mornings walk started in Bempton, Cliff Lane, Blakehowe Lane, Stonepit Lane, the permissive footpath over Metlands to the cliffs, along the cliffs to Bartlett Nab, back along the nature trail, returning down Cliff Lane. About 4.5 miles and by 0800hrs is was too warm for me and more so for Symphony. I was surprised, but pleased, that there were few visitors at this time!

I've no doubt that most readers will recall that a Red Tailed Shrike / Turkestan Shrike has been watched by hordes in the vicinity of my walk today. Wandale Farm is it's favoured location and for the price of £10 you can have the privilege of entering the farm to see the bird. This is not my idea of fun and I have not made any effort to see the Shrike. This morning I walked past the farm and took the permissive path to the cliffs, a well overgrown route that I use often when walking Symphony. As I approached the second "kissing gate", I noted a bird on the fence line between the path and north dykes (Metlands). And yes, it was the Shrike albeit distant. It is now on my list, but I have to say, considering its rare status, it didn't excite me at all! I like to try and take different images of birds, and today I achieved that, my images are distant, blurry and they are hard to even call record shots! Beat that big lens brigade! 😇
