Sunrise Walk to Bempton Cliffs ( Some of the Birds in Golden Light) - 11th March 2022

Gannet

A bright start to the morning but a strong (slightly less cool) south easterly blow. It really felt like early spring, with the songs of Skylarks, Yellowhammers, Blackbirds, Meadow Pipits and Dunnocks adding to the sunshine. Thousands of Auks (Guillemots & Razorbills) were on the ledges, sea and in flight with a couple of Puffins bobbing on the sea. Still no Kittiwakes for me, though! A plus point for this mornings walk was post sunrise "golden light", that I have tried to capture in the following images.

Razorbills

Guillemots

Plus Friend!

Gannets

When Gannets "sky point" with head and neck stretched upwards, it indicates that they are about to move or fly. Worth watching!

And finally, a random Lapwing

All images taken handheld with Sony RX10 Mk4.
