Scarborough Area - 12th March 2022

Rock Pipit, Scarborough Harbour

I dropped Heather off early this morning at Seamer Station which gave me the opportunity to wander, without a plan, around the Scarborough area! I started off at Seamer Tip Pool and just caught the sun rising through variable cloud mass. I have to say that sunrise makes the tip pool look rather attractive, something you can't really say during day light hours 😇!

Nothing special, bird wise, but my attention was drawn to one of the Mute Swans, plus reflection

And a Shoveler in flight

Decided to head up to Scalby Mills and walk through the Open Air theatre, around Peasholm Park and back. At Scalby Mills I managed a year tick with a pair of Grey Wagtails on the beck and at the Open Air Theatre, a singing Chiffchaff.

A Moody North Bay

Spotted this Grey Heron at the Open Air Theatre

And this Buck Roe Deer

Peasholm Park was rather quiet, so just a "reflecting" Tufted Duck

Moved on again to Scarborough Harbour, where two Great Northern Divers refused to come close

A seal popped up to say hello

On one of the harbour slipways, a couple of Herring Gulls found a discarded "fag" packet of interest. Not good for their health as with chips, but goes to show how "humanised" they are becoming!

And finally, a call in to Holbeck to see if any Mediterranean Gulls were about. Only found one though.

"Easter Bonnet" Time?

It was nice to be out in a different area to Bempton for a change.
