"Stormy" Walk to Bempton Cliffs - 31st March 2002

You may have noticed a slight change of title to my blog as my interests have changed to incorporate my love of the great doors and wildlife in general. I am really enjoying my landscape work as this enables me to put my individual signature on the world around us. Basically, I shall be recording "what I see when I see it" as long as it takes my fancy!

A very stormy morning visiting the cliffs with an icy, strong north easterly blow, squally wintery showers and a bit of sunshine. The cloud formations and colours were spectacular and atmospheric.

Did I catch a view of "Lucifer" this morning, looking up enviously?

"Many Happy Returns!" Black Browed Albatross, Bempton Cliffs - 31st March 2022.

On a bitterly cold morning with a strong north easterly blow, squally wintery showers and some sunshine, I headed up to the cliffs expecting it to be very busy, with the return of the Black Browed Albatross. I was very surprised to see only a couple of cars in the car park and when I arrived At Staple Newk, only one person there! Soon to be joined by a third. Immediately the Albatross was seen, in flight around Staple Newk Rock. It was hard to keep the camera still in the strong wind, even bolstered against the viewpoint woodwork. The Alabatross then landed, in full view on Staple Newk Rock where it remained until I left. During this time it preened, had a go at a nearby Gannet and seemed quite at home!

Unfortunately, the following images can only be described as "record shots", but I am happy!

Misty Walk to Bempton Cliffs (Wildlife) - 29th March 2022

Distant Little Owl

A rather dull, grey, misty and cool walk up to the cliffs, hoping for some atmospheric landscape images (subject of another blog page), and not really expecting any wildlife images. Never say never, I got a few! It always pays to focus on all wildlife. The Little Owl above was distant and with the naked eye, in the mist, I expected it to be a Pigeon!

Misty Yellowhammer (trying to find some brightness!)

Kittiwakes on the cliffs. I love their blood red mouths! I nickname them "vampire" Kittiwakes!

Razorbill, a black & white bird in black & white!

Guillemot

And finally, some Pussy Willow

Misty Walk to Bempton Cliffs - 29th March 2022.

A much cooler, moody, grey and misty start to the morning lending itself to a bit of monochrome and a little experimentation!

A few brighter intervals meant it was not all black and white

The new "welcome cabin" took my interest, well parts of it!

Can I remind visitors that dogs are most welcome on the reserve but they must be held securely on a short lead at all times? Thank you.
