Bempton Cliffs Walk (Some of the Birds) - 6th February 2022

Gannet

A rather dull, dark and grey morning with a cool south westerly blow. What would the cliffs hold today? There were no visible Auks on the ledges. The Gannets more than made up for this though, with six on the ledges, viewed from Bartlett Nab (so probably many more along other parts of the cliffs) and several hundred flying through, many close in to the cliffs. Hearing them call was a treat! A Short-eared Owl hunted the Coultas Field before heading through the reserve, last seen in the fields near New Rollup. Fulmars were also in good number. The seabirds are coming back!😁

Who can resist a Robin?

Another delight for me is hearing bird song again and I now need to revise calls / song! Plus working out direction!
