Volunteering today at the cliffs on a very changeable weather day! Dull, cloudy and rain showers to start the day and a cool north westerly (guess who left his gloves in another coat at home?), but improving with bright spells and the sun appeared a couple of times. Quite quiet around the reserve with the best bird (for me) being a male Snow Bunting that is favouring Grandstand viewpoint. This bird is delightful, showing so well and having no fear of humans. Constantly feeding, it is in its second day. Be careful that you don't stand on it! Whilst I was undertaking a litter pick, I flushed c12 Grey Partridge from the back of the visitor centre, flying towards the arable field. Several Red Throated Divers flew through and Guillemots can be seen close in on the sea. Several immature Kittiwakes also passed through and a couple of skeins of Pink Footed Geese flew over the reserve. Gannet numbers have again reduced, but there are still Gannet Gugas being serviced, some still not fully in their ready to fledge plumage. As I say, best bird for me was the Snow Bunting which held my attention for much of the day!
I carried both my cameras today, Canon 7D Mk2 with 400mm 5.6 prime lens and Sony RX10 Mk4.
