Bempton Cliffs - 8th September 2020

Ol' Blue Eyes!

I have to say that I thoroughly enjoyed lockdown but now I need to move on and attempt to get back on an even keel. For the first time since March, today we visited Bempton Cliffs much later than first light, arriving at 0830 and leaving at 1230hrs. The reason for this was meeting friends from the midlands and giving them a personal tour of the cliffs. I have to say that it was busy, but not as scary as I thought it would be. Lockdown has changed me and I am more intolerant of the human species than I ever was! My return to the RSPB as a Sunday volunteer is still on hold and if I do return, it will be during the winter months or even 2021. The issue here is that as soon as you put on a uniform, you become a magnetic attraction and people approach you for information, whereas as a private individual, you can avoid or walk away! Time will tell!

Who borrowed all of the Gannets?

It was good to see a healthy group of fledged Swallows around the visitor centre
