Based in Wooler, Northumberland gave us the opportunity of visiting a few coastal and inland birding spots, although it appeared quit quiet and any scarce reports were not chased up. Visits included - Lindisfarne (Holy Island), Budle Bay, Seahouses, Newton by the Sea, Berwick on Tweed, Coldstream (to say we'd been in Scotland!, Wooler itself and general walking and driving.
We picked up a few year ticks in Raven, Golden Plover, Curlew Sandpiper, Black and Bar Tailed Godwits, Spotted Redshank, Greenshank, Whimbrel, Red Breasted Merganser, Jay, and Grey Plover. Nothing mega, but then I'm happy see what I see and no longer "chase" birds. The nature of good birding spots usually means birds are at a distance and scoped.
One of my favourite sea ducks, the "Cuddy" Duck
Goosander
Grey Heron
