Bempton Birder on Vacation, Northumberland, September 2020

With all of the restrictions enforced throughout lockdown and lockdown "easing", we took the risk and booked a self catering holiday cottage in the town of Wooler, Northumberland. A break more than anything, incorporating both birding and doing touristy things. The last time I stayed in Wooler was 40+ years ago, staying at the now much improved Youth Hostel......

...... on a cycle tour. It was here that I discovered my intolerance to tomatoes and red kidney beans when the evening meal was a home made spaghetti bolognaise! I had not eaten one before and was the only one of our group to be taken seriously unwell and losing three days holiday! I had not returned until now, and yes we had a great time, and no I was not ill!
