Tophill Low - 13th August 2020

Great White Egret

With the Flamborough Headland shrouded in a persistent sea fret, I decided to head inland and visit Tophill Low. Another early(ish) start, eventually driving out of the fret as I approached Driffield, but although free of mist, Tophill was quite overcast. I decided to walk the southern part first and located the Great White Egret on North Lagoon, albeit distant!

Short stays in most hides as very little of interest! Arriving at the members hide, two people were in residence. I'm sure one day I'll find the occupants still wearing pyjamas! I'm not one for staying very long in hides and little was showing, so I moved on.

A small wader caught my eye - Common Sandpiper

Incredibly, a rare "three legged Common Sandpiper"!

Had it not been for a couple of Little Egrets, my camera shutter would have had little activation!

Having walked around the south side, I followed the one way (Covid) system and headed to North Marsh Hide. Again very little to see but very relaxing, drinking my coffee, all on my own! Eventually this Marsh Harrier appeared, clutching it's prey

A quiet but relaxing visit!
