Filey Dams - 11th August 2020

Wood Sandpipers

Last night I decided on an early morning visit to Filey Dams as the weather forecast looked good, until this morning dawned - with fog! Why do weather forecasters get paid? Anyway, perseverance paid off and some good birds were had, including a year tick of not one but two Wood Sandpipers! Still being a little reserved about going into bird hides, early doors usually ensures few people about. Nice to see Nigel W and Tony C in east pool hide.

It's good to see wildlife having fun, in this case the two Wood Sandpipers and a Common Sandpiper having a go at "leap frog!"

Almost out of nowhere, this Curlew came in to bathe

Lapwings are always a delight to see

All in, not a bad hour!
