"Early doors" on Bempton Cliffs! - 17th May 2019

Bempton Auks - Razorbill, Guillemot, Puffin

By "early doors" I mean before sunrise, arriving about 0430hrs and not even the first on the cliffs! I hoped that I might catch a good sunrise so I arrived early to set up. I wasn't sure if anything spectacular would happen with increased cloud and early morning rain, but ended up pleasantly surprised, if only for a brief period!

Sunrise

Following the sunrise, the cliffs were bathed (briefly) in a golden glow!

The golden glow transformed the chalk cliffs and I was lucky to also find the three species of auk - Razorbill, Guillemot (+ Bridled Guillemot) and Puffin together!

What's going on down there?

Hang on, I'll go and check it out!

I couldn't get the Bridled Guillemot on the ledge with the other auks!

Oh! look! More Puffins!

A quick look around the nature trail and dell revealed little more than Common Whitethroats!

Not a bad pre-breakfast effort!
