Good News Regarding the Bridlington King Street Kittiwakes - 5th August 2023

Good news indeed! The Bridlington, King Street Kittiwakes have now fledged and are free flying! The two chicks, now known as "Tarrocks" for their first year, post fledging have been preening and exercising their flight feathers and muscles and leaving their "des res" nest for lengthy periods. They are still returning and will do so until instinct tells them to move on.

It seems strange to see their chosen nest site empty

The parent birds are also returning to the nest site and seem to be wondering where their "babies" have gone.

Hopefully the fledged birds and their parents will stay safe, avoid the dreaded avian flu (which is hitting Kittiwakes very hard) and we look forward to following the adult Kittiwakes in the next breeding season.

Thank you for looking.
