A Summer Morning at Summer Leys LNR (Northants).

Reed Warbler

I have to say that I am really pleased that some good weather has replaced the cool, damp and wet conditions that have been our summer so far. I do not do HOT, so I arrived at Summer Leys LNR at about 0530hrs. The initial coolness of the morning was soon replaced by increasing temperatures and I gave in at 1100hrs and headed for home. Biggest problem was the bright sunshine making images difficult!

Summer Leys was very quiet, as expected for late July but some interesting sightings were still to be had. A pair of eclipse Garganey were hard to locate in the long grass on wader bay where a solitary Common Sandpiper patrolled. A Red Kite passed over and a Hobby arrived to feast on the many dragonflies. Most of my day was spent taking images of woodland birds. A daily sightings list can be found at the end of this post.
