Filey Dams & East Lee - 22nd August 2022

Common Snipe

I decided to have a look at Filey Dams this morning, a reserve that I should visit more often! Word of a summer plumaged Spotted Redshank interested me, but on arrival, I was informed that it had flown "15 minutes ago"! A quick look around produced most of the expected birds plus c9 Black Tailed Godwits, 3 mobile Green Sandpipers and 3 Common Snipe. The light was poor and I struggled with my Canon 7D Mk2, so I offer what can only be described as "record shots"!

Word came in that the Spotted Redshank had been relocated over on the East Lea reserve. I made my way over, luckily I had my gate key, thinking I had not been on East Lea since before the first lockdown! The Spotted Redshank was located, on the far side of East Lea, so very distant. Also present were 2 Ruff, 1 Little Ringed Plover, 1 Dunlin, 3 Common Snipe, 1 Black Tailed Godwit and several Yellow Wagtails.
