Aspects of Bridlington Harbour & Bay (Wildlife) - 24th August 2022

A place for "loafing"!

The tide was starting to go out during my two walks around the harbour, but it was difficult to find the birds! Most were very distant!

Turnstone

Purple Sandpiper

Redshank

Although not in the harbour, the "des res" Kittiwakes in King Street are pretty close. They have chosen this nest site for the first time this year, probably as first time breeders or as displaced breeders, moved on by the atrocious netting of properties. I suspect the former. They have paired and will spend their lifetime together and gained a premium nest site, which they will return to every year. They have not bred this year, but have remained loyal to the nest. I have high hopes for breeding next year.
