St. Mary's Island, Whitley Bay - 18th September 2023

St. Mary's Lighthouse

Pastures new! Staying for a few days with our daughter Abigail, near Durham, a window of opportunity arose to visit areas, up to now, unseen! A changeable day, dull, misty at first, light drizzle and eventually some brightness and even a sunny period or two.

St. Mary's Lighthouse

What a fool I am! I decided to accompany Abigail up to the lightroom of the lighthouse! Climbing very steep steps, the view from the top was very good and the walking down was a lot easier. I am, however, now feeling the aches of my endeavours!

Looking Up!

The Lightroom

From the top, through not the cleanest of glass, good views were had of Grey Seals

From ground level, the seals were more obscured

Around the island, thousands of Golden Plovers

Clinging on!

Tide and Time......

Thank you for looking.
