Wykeham Lakes, Scarborough - 14th April 2023

Common Scoter

With the promise of a reasonable morning and a wet afternoon, I decided to visit Wykeham Lakes in the hope of some more year ticks. I was not to be disappointed with House Martin, Willow Warbler, Blackcap and Mistle Thrush. I arrived early and had to wait for the gate to open at 0800hrs, before embarking on two laps of the south lake. It was sunny and I needed to shed some clothing before embarking on my second lap. Of interest, House Martins (4); Willow Warblers (c14); Mistle Thrushes (2); Blackcaps (male2); White Fronted Geese (2); Pink Footed Goose (1); Drake Pochard (1); Goldeneye (9); Common Scoter (5): plus the expected birds. I offer below my record shots! It was getting too "peopley" and I left c1030hrs.
