Bempton Cliffs Walk (Fulmars, Kittiwakes et.al.) - 17th April 2023

Fulmar

A long walk to Bempton Cliffs this morning encompassing Hoddy Cows Lane, Buckton & Bempton Cliffs and Cliff Lane. I hoped that I might touch base with some spring migrants, but as usual, it was not to be! The morning started dull and cloudy but soon warmed up and eventually the sun appeared and some warmth!

Watching!

Kestrel

Linnet
Kittiwakes

Fulmars

Have a look at the eyes of the above Fulmars and note the small black area in front of the eye. This small triangular tuft of black bristles acts similar to our sunglasses and protects against the light! You've got to love Fulmars!!

Red Campion is starting to show in the cliff top vegetation. Soon it will be widespread and fantastically compliments the white of the seabirds! Can't wait.....!

Thank you for looking.
