Bempton Cliffs Walk - 16th March 2023

Kittiwake

An afternoon wander, unusual for me, on the cliffs, but I had to experience the fresh sea air! A few more people about than I normally experience on my crepuscular walks! I have seen Kittiwakes this year, but today I managed to get an image as one briefly landed on a ledge below Bartlett Nab. Mainly Gannets and Fulmars today, the Auks represented by a hundred or so Razorbills, a few Guillemots and no visible Puffins. No sign of the Black Redstart but a sudden flight of a small bird turned out to be a Rock Pipit. A large pod of Dolphins headed north west, but I only managed one record image.

Bottle Nosed Dolphin

Razorbills

Allopreening, a used by most seabirds as an endearment of their life time bond

Razorbills are now being trained to prevent rock slips on the cliffs!😇

Gannets

Gannets "skypoint" to communicate they are about to move or vacate the cliff ledge

An "air traffic control" nightmare! (above two images)

Fulmars

Jackdaw

The three amigos?!

Thank you for looking.
