Thornwick Pool, Flamborough - 1st February 2020

Grey Phalarope with drake Teal

Having missed the Grey Phalarope in Brid Harbour a year ago (despite 5 attempts!), when one was reported on Thornwick Pool late on 31st January, tingles engulfed my body at the possibility of getting my first one in Yorkshire! Unable to go that evening, I was relieved to hear that it was still present as darkness fell. Today I was up and on site at first light hoping the Phalarope was still present. It took a while searching but thankfully it was still present, albeit distant and tricky in the strong wind generated waves! Result! Unfortunately, due to the distance and light, my images are no more than record shots!

A supporting cast included Shelduck (2)

And Teal (13)
