Flight of the Egret - Summer Leys LNR (Northants)

Great White Egret

Most views of Great White Egrets are often distant and hidden by reeds, and initially today was no exception!


We thought that this was going to be our "highlight" and moved on around the reserve. Retracing, later, we could not locate the GWE and gave praise for our year tick! Suddenly, scanning the area to see what else was about, the GWE appeared in flight only a few yards away! Lucky or what?
