Brandon Marsh

More local birding today with Brandon Marsh being my destination. Arriving at 0600, I spotted 64 bird species before leaving at 1000. It was nice to see a Barn Owl hunting over Newlands from the Carlton Hide, with two Kingfishers fishing and a Green Sandpiper. East Marsh Pool held a (feral) Barnacle Goose, Redshanks, Ringed Plover, Oystercatchers, Little Ringed Plovers, Shoveler, Gadwall and Teal. Most of the birds had young. Some random images below - didn't seem to have the ability to capture anything in a good image today. Complete list at end of post.

    Some lovely photo`s on your blog, that I have found via Jan at ShySongbird.
    I am hoping one day to own a DSLR, but at the moment have to be content with `Digiscoping`, maybe one day I will get shots that are as good as yours!

    Cheers, Max. The Kf (2) were on the far pole but one eventually came onto the post in front of the hide. As usual, the light was wrong as it is at Carlton in the mornings.

    Hi Paul & Anna - thanks for taking the time to comment on my blog. Brandon Marsh is an excellent place to visit but can be a busy at peak times. I f you haven't seen the links in my side bar, if you click on Brandon Marsh, you will get up to date sightings info. Clicking on Warwickshire Wildlife Trust will get you reserve details and acess etc. If you have time, Draycote Water is closeby and is worth a look, but a bit quiet bird wise at the moment. Good luck and enjoy your time in this area.
