Bridlington North Side (Birds) - 30th September 2022

Ringed Plovers and Dunlin

A rather grey and dull morning for a walk along north side, but the birds more than made up for the weather. Groups of Ringed Plovers, Dunlins, Turnstones and a couple of Sanderling along the tideline, and a very flighty Wheatear.

Bridlington North Side (Landscapes) - 30th September 2022

A rather grey walk along the north side, intending to walk the beach to Sewerby steps. Symphony had other ideas, as the tide had not receded far enough and the waves were crashing noisily onto the beach. She hates that sound and tries to get as far away as possible, this morning dragging me up on to the cliffs. We didn't walk the beach! The following images are taken from the promenade and cliff tops!

Woldgate and Carnaby Temple, Bridlington - 27th & 29th September 2022

We have lived in East Yorkshire now for seven years and despite its close proximity, have never explored the Roman Road of Woldgate and the Carnaby "Temple". That is until now! There seem to be some excellent walks so as a must, we will return! The images below were taken on two separate short walks.

Carnaby Temple, an octagonal folly stands in fields about 1 mile (1.6 km) north of Carnaby. It was built by Sir George Strickland, owner of Boynton Hall, in 1770 and is locally known as 'The Pepperpot'. The structure is based on the Tower of the Winds which is on the Roman Agora in Athens. The structure has also been adapted and used as a dwelling for farm labourers but is now derelict.

Aspects of Bridlington Harbour & Bay - 28th September 2022

A tad stormy this morning with a mixture of rain showers (some heavy) and some brighter intervals. Interesting light over the bay and even a rainbow over Bridlington south side (I do struggle with rainbows!).
