Bempton Circular Walk - 16th July 2021

"Please don't eat me dad......!"

A lovely morning with blue sky and sunshine had me out just after 0500hrs, walking up to the cliffs with Symphony. I couldn't believe the number of cars passing us on Cliff Lane, many at speeds not suitable for a single track lane with passing places. Arriving at Bempton Cliffs, the main car park was very full even at 0530hrs! My plan was to head to Staple Newk for another encounter with the Black Browed Albatross. Arriving at New Rollup viewpoint, I was amazed to see only a couple of birders (this area is nearly very busy)! Then I saw why, everyone had gone to Staple Newk viewpoint, which was rammed, obviously Covid is over here 😟. Seeing this, we ventured no further and returned to the northern viewpoints, which were completely devoid of humans and much more to my liking! Okay, so there will be no WOW images of the Albatross from me, just some of the expected breeding seabirds!

"Please don't eat me dad......!" It is always fantastic to see the young Gannets (Guga) being "serviced"!
