Sunrise Walk to Bempton Cliffs - 20th November 2020

After a clear, cold evening, I hoped for a decent sunrise this morning! The early morning forecast was not hopeful, predicting varying thicknesses of cloud cover! I took a gamble and was not disappointed. Walking up Cliff Lane in the dark, it was clear that there had been a frost but it was to dark to take advantage of it. However, the pre-dawn light was rather special

Arriving on the cliffs, I decided to head to New Rollup view point, where I was treated to a glorious but brief sunrise. The cloud cover soon built up and the hope of any frosty images quickly disappeared.

After the brief sunrise, it became dull and grey which was a shame because on the cliffs there were c500 Guillemots (between Grandstand and Bartlett Nab). At least eight Gannets were passing through and Fulmars number c16. Best bird of the morning was inadvertently flushing a Woodcock off Bartlett Nab viewpoint!
